How did your career in the lubricants industry begin?
I hadn’t heard of ROCOL until I started to look for customer service roles, but I quickly became drawn to the company when I spotted the opening and researched the company.
The company offer so many opportunities in terms of personal growth and development, it was an easy decision to join.
How long have you worked at ROCOL and what attracted you to the company?
I started at the end of December 2021, so I have been here for eight months now and I’m really enjoying it.
Before ROCOL, I hadn’t come across a manufacturing company that manufactured, dispatched and had offices and a laboratory all on one site, so that was a big draw for me. Also, from reading on the website, I realised just how big a part lubricants and aerosols play in our daily lives, so that interested me too.
What are your favourite parts of your role?
I love that no two days are the same. The role is hugely varied and involves processing orders, obtaining quotes and helping customers with inquiries. I also work as part of a team with other departments, such as dispatch, finance and technical to give ROCOL customers the best experience.
How do you spend your time outside work?
My wife and I love to travel and explore new places. Obviously, COVID put a stop to that in the last few years, but we are making up for lost time now as being stuck at home was pretty rubbish.
I’ve been lucky to explore places such as Thailand in the past and we have some exciting trips planned.
Share one fact that your colleagues wouldn’t know about you.
I spent a year living in Thailand teaching English. Before heading out there, I did a TEFL course and had a fantastic year teaching and exploring. I even had a Thai script tattoo done by a monk using traditional methods. The pain was pretty intense, more so than with a normal tattoo, but I love it and I’m pleased I have something to always remind me of my time in Thailand.
